About

The Driftwood is located at Rosses Point Upper on the Wild Atlantic Way, around a short drive from Sligo town. The waterfront position puts you close to Rosses Point Beach — a 2km Blue Flag beach with views towards Knocknarea and Benbulben — as well as County Sligo Golf Club and the coastal walks that make Rosses Point one of the most scenic villages on the Sligo coast. The combination of beach, walk and dinner here is one of the easiest itineraries in the area.

The kitchen is built around smoke and fire. Meats are slow-smoked for up to 15 hours, and the menu combines barbecue-style dishes — pit-smoked chicken wings, charred chicken thigh burgers, slow-cooked meats — with fresh local seafood including lobster and fish that can arrive from local boats the same day. Discover Ireland highlights the seafood linguine alongside the barbecue dishes. That combination makes The Driftwood work particularly well for mixed groups: one person can have lobster, another can have smoked brisket, and nobody has to compromise.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and evening à la carte, plus dessert and coffee. Current hours are Wednesday to Sunday, 8am until late. Takeaway is also available by phone. Booking is recommended for Friday evenings, Saturday, Sunday lunch and good-weather weekends — Rosses Point gets busy when the sun appears. The bar and café area is worth knowing about too: you can stop for a cocktail or coffee with views over Sligo Bay and Oyster Island without committing to a full meal. The official site specifically suggests sitting at the bar as the light drops over the bay in the evening.
